question?

Everything you need to know before getting started — group training, personal training, online coaching and more. Anything not covered here, just drop us a message.

General

What is Project Performance?

Project Performance is a coaching business based at the Palais des Sports in Morzine, French Alps. We run small group PT sessions and 1-2-1 personal training in person, and online coaching programmes for clients worldwide. Founded by Ian Mellor in 2019, with a team of coaches covering the group sessions.

Do I need to be fit to start?

No. Every session and programme is adapted to your current level. Complete beginners train alongside experienced athletes regularly — the coaching scales to the individual, not the group average.

I have an injury or health condition. Can I still train?

In most cases, yes. The coaching team has extensive experience working with injuries, chronic conditions and post-surgical recovery. Let us know before you start and the programme will be built around what you can safely do.

How quickly will I see results?

Most people notice improvements in energy, sleep and general wellbeing within the first few weeks. Visible physical changes typically take 6-8 weeks of consistent training. The goal is always long-term, sustainable progress — not short-term fixes.

Group Training

How many people are in a group session?

Maximum 16 per session. This is a firm cap — it keeps the sessions properly coached rather than just supervised. You’ll always get attention, correction and guidance throughout.

What sessions are available and when?

Full Body Strength on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. High Intensity Conditioning on Tuesday. Zone 2 Conditioning on Thursday. Two slots daily: 07:00–08:00 and 09:00–10:00.

I’m only in Morzine for a week. Can I drop in?

Yes — drop-in sessions are available at €18 per session. Book in advance via PushPress.

What do I need to bring?

Water bottle, clean gym shoes (not worn outside) and a sweat towel. Complete your health questionnaire via PushPress before your first session.

Do the sessions run during ski season?

Yes. Sessions run year-round. Many clients use the morning sessions to train before hitting the slopes — the early timeslots are designed with exactly that in mind.

What is the difference between the Tuesday and Thursday conditioning sessions?

Tuesday is high intensity — short, sharp intervals targeting your anaerobic system. Great for Hyrox training or anyone who wants to push hard. Thursday is Zone 2 — longer effort at a controlled pace, focused on your aerobic base, recovery and long-term cardiovascular health.

Do I need any experience to join a group session?

None at all. Every session is adapted to the individual — complete beginners and experienced athletes train alongside each other regularly. The coaching scales to where you are, not where the group is.

Personal Training

How is personal training different from the group sessions?

In a 1-2-1 session, every minute is focused entirely on you. The programme is built specifically around your goals, your body and your progress — not adapted from a group plan. It’s also flexible on timing and location.

How long are PT sessions?

60 minutes. Sessions are held at the Palais des Sports or at your accommodation if the facilities allow.

Can I choose my coach?

Yes. When booking, you can specify which coach you’d like to work with. Ian leads all online coaching personally and takes 1-2-1 sessions in Morzine. Other coaches are also available.

Can I combine PT sessions with group training?

Absolutely — many clients do both. The PT sessions complement the group programme well, particularly if you want to focus on specific goals or technique work alongside the group sessions.

How do I book a personal training session?

Drop us a message or email [email protected] to arrange your first 1-2-1. PT sessions are €65 per session or €600 for a block of 10 (valid for 2 months).

Online Coaching

How does online coaching work?

Your programme is delivered through an easy-to-use app — sets, reps, rest times and demo videos for every exercise, all in one place. Depending on your plan, you’ll also have direct messaging access to Ian for support, questions and check-ins.

Which online plan should I choose?

Project: Fit is a structured gym plan with no coaching support. Project: Build adds a personalised programme and messaging access. Project: Elevate includes full nutrition coaching alongside training. Project: Balance is specifically for women navigating perimenopause or menopause. Not sure? Drop us a message and we’ll help you decide.

Do I need a gym to follow an online plan?

The standard plans are gym-based. If you train at home or have limited equipment, mention this when you sign up and the programme will be adapted accordingly.

How often will I hear from Ian?

On Project: Build, Elevate and Balance you have direct messaging access throughout. Check-in frequency is agreed when you start — typically weekly, but adapted to what works best for you.

Can I cancel an online plan?

Yes. Online plans can be cancelled at any point with 30 days’ notice. There are no long-term contracts or lock-in periods — just let us know and your plan will end after your final 30 days.

Menopause

What makes the menopause coaching different?

The programme is built specifically around the hormonal and physiological changes that happen during perimenopause and menopause — not a generic plan modified slightly. Training intensity, nutrition, recovery and structure are all calibrated to support rather than fight what your body is doing.

Is this available in person as well as online?

Yes. If you’re in Morzine, Ian can work with you in the group sessions or 1-2-1. Project: Balance is the dedicated online programme for clients anywhere in the world.

Can I do this alongside HRT or other medication?

Yes. The programme works alongside medical treatment, not instead of it. Always share what you’re managing so the programme can be designed accordingly.

I haven’t exercised in years. Is it too late to start?

It is never too late. The programme starts from where you are right now. The benefits of strength training during and after menopause — for bone density, muscle mass, sleep and mood — are significant at any starting point.

I’m in early perimenopause — is it too soon to start?

No. The earlier you start building the right habits — strength training, nutrition, structured movement — the better placed you’ll be as symptoms develop. Early intervention makes a genuine difference.

I’m post-menopause. Is this still relevant for me?

Absolutely. The focus on bone density, muscle mass, energy and mood is just as important post-menopause as during it. The programme adapts to wherever you are in the process.

I haven’t trained in years. Can I still join?

Yes. Every programme starts from where you are right now, not where you think you should be. Complete beginners are welcome — the coaching adapts accordingly.

Can I do this alongside HRT?

Yes. The programme works alongside HRT and other medical support. We’re not a replacement for medical advice — we work alongside it. Always let Ian know what you’re managing so the programme reflects that.
